I've tried many diets but nothing seems to work......! Is that a familiar statement?
It's a well known fact that often when we come off a diet we can end up putting more weight back on than was lost! Most diets revolve around depriving ourselves of certain foods over a period of time and negative thoughts are attached to the diet eg "I can't have this" or "I'm not allowed that". And let's face it, feeling deprived of something is not nice!!
Whilst we are on the diet, it is possible that a considerable amount of weight can be lost but when our desired weight is achieved we usually go back to our previous eating habits. These eating habits may have contributed to our being overweight in the first place and our bodies can also store more fat in readiness for the next period of deprivation - hence we can end up heavier than before we went on the diet!
So how can hypnotherapy help?
Hypnotherapy works by helping you to think differently about the food that you eat. It helps you to alter your lifestyle to a healthier one which then becomes the "norm" for you. It will also help to improve your self esteem and how you feel about yourself. You lose weight by changing your outlook to food and establishing a different eating pattern and, because this doesn't involve depriving yourself of certain foods for a period of time, the results are ongoing! Regular exercise is also an important factor in losing weight but it is advisable to consult your GP before starting an exercise regime.
Is using hypnotherapy for weight loss straightforward?
Usually yes, but sometimes other factors may need to be addressed before weight loss can be achieved. For example, if you are "comfort eating" the reasons why you feel the need to do that may have to be resolved for the weight loss therapy to be successful.
If you are currently attending your GP regarding your weight, I will ask that you speak to your GP before the therapy commenced.
But, in a nutshell, hypnotherapy can be a very effective way to lose weight - and keep it off!!
